Daniela Zustovich (center), the property manager of
1359 Broadway, and Theresa Morzello (right), the
property manager of 112 West 34th Street, were profiled
in a recent New York Post article about women in
commercial real estate.

A recent article in the New York Post that profiled several female commercial property managers probably came as a surprise to many readers, who, in all likelihood, rarely envision women holding key positions in this field.

But it came as no surprise to W&H. Two of the women profiled, Theresa Morzello and Daniela Zustovich, are the property managers of W&H buildings - 112 West 34th Street and 1359 Broadway, respectively. And they are only two of many women who manage, lease and market W&H properties.

On the property management side, in addition to Ms. Morzello and Daniela Zustovich, are Diane Fields, who manages 1350 Broadway, and Nancy Fernandez, assistant property manager of 1400 Broadway. On the leasing side are Audrey Coe, leasing manager of 112 West 34th Street, Brandl Frey of Cushman & Wakefield and Julie Christiano of Newmark Knight Frank.

"People tend to associate women with residential real estate rather than commercial," says Fred C. Posniak of W&H. "Our staff makeup has always provided a strong counter-example to this view. Now it's time for the commercial real estate industry as a whole to catch up and give women opportunities to play a larger role."

The women profiled in the Post have made the most of such opportunities. As the article states, "Now that they've found their way to the position, they love their work." The article also quotes Ms. Zustovich, who says, "There is never a dull moment. You get pulled into it and it's the satisfaction of the various aspects - interacting with the tenants and the staff."

"It's a good sign that more and more women are entering the field of commercial real estate," notes Mr. Posniak. "We hope that the story in the Post will prompt others to consider this sector."
