Toy Drive at 1359 Broadway

In keeping with tradition, the holiday season at the W&H portfolio had a full roster of community activities. On November 7th, we held our semi-annual Girl Scouts Corporate Cookie Connection at 501 Seventh Avenue, 1359 Broadway, 250 West 57th Street, and The Lincoln Building. Proceeds from these sales support educational and cultural programs for Girl Scouts in New York City. In addition, the Girl Scouts collect donations for "Gifts of Caring," boxes of cookies sent to military men and women on duty overseas. As always, there was widespread participation from tenants, staff and visitors. We greatly appreciate the support.

Our annual toy drive, held between November 27th and December 15th at the same buildings, was also a success. The toys we collected went to several organizations selected by the Robin Hood Foundation, including Women in Need, Iris House, Little Sisters of Assumption and The Family Center. The Robin Hood Foundation works to eradicate poverty by funding community-based programs (visit www.robinhood.org for more information). We thank the many tenants and staff who donated toys to this worthy cause. As Ingrid Floyd, the executive director of Iris House, said in a letter to W&H, "We appreciate all your efforts and support. As you already know, many of the parents are unable to provide gifts and certainly are grateful for your generosity in bringing holiday cheer and toys to their children."

Finally, we continued our popular tradition of weekly holiday concerts throughout the month of December. These lobby concerts feature a variety of musical genres, and are free and open to the public.

Soon, we will expand our community outreach programs to the five new additions to the W&H portfolio. We look forward to sharing our commitment to the wider community with the tenants and staff at these buildings. Together, we can help make New York City an even better place in which to live and work.
