W&H's strong leasing performance that characterized the beginning of 2009 intensified further in the spring and summer seasons. Highlights include:

  • Cary Kane, an employment law firm, expanded its space by approximately 60% at 1350 Broadway to occupy 8,877 square feet on the 14th floor. Tenant broker: Ira Rovitz of Grubb & Ellis.
  • Fairfield-Maxwell Services Ltd (FMSL), a prominent ship management company, leased the top-floor penthouse of 9,550 square feet at One Grand Central Place. Tenant brokers: Richard Michaels and James Fredericks of Colliers ABR.
  • Federal Express leased a 4,423-square-foot pre-built on the second floor at 501 Seventh Avenue. Tenant brokers: Lee Miller and Robert Thuss of Cushman & Wakefield.
  • The General Contractors Association of New York, Inc. (GCA), a 35+year tenant of One Grand Central Place, renewed its lease for 9,000 square feet on the 35th floor of the property. Tenant broker: Daniel Horowitz of Studley.
  • Gerber Childrenswear LLC, a leading marketer of infant and toddler apparel and related products, renewed its 15,910-square-foot space on the seventh floor at 1333 Broadway. The firm first moved into the property in 1989. Tenant brokers: Nicola Heryet and Stephen Bellwood of Colliers ABR.
  • Gildan, the leading supplier of activewear for the screenprint channel in the U.S. and Canada, leased part of the 16th floor at 1400 Broadway. Tenant broker: Brandl Frey of Newmark Knight Frank.
  • The Hawthorne Agency (d/b/a Coface), a provider of commercial trade credit information and political risk insurance, renewed its lease for 12,288 square feet on the 20th floor at 1350 Broadway. Tenant broker: Jay Lapham of Jones Lang LaSalle.
  • Hospitality Holdings, which owns and operates the Campbell Apartment and six other famous high-end venues in Manhattan, leased a ground floor space of 3,402 square feet at the Empire State Building for its latest concept, The Empire Room. Tenant brokers: Lori Shabtai and Monica Kass of Winick Realty Group.
  • Palyon Medical Corporation, a medical device company, has nearly tripled its space at 250 West 57th Street and will move into a 4,137-square-foot pre-built on the 25th floor.
  • Pine Brook Road Partners, a private equity firm, leased the entire 49th floor and part of the 50th floor, totaling 17,632 square feet, at One Grand Central Place. Tenant brokers: Larry Zuckerman and Dan Gronich of Grubb & Ellis.
  • ReachLocal, Inc., a global leader in local online marketing and the 39th fastest-growing private company in America in 2009, according to Inc. magazine, leased 12,000 square feet on the ninth floor at 112 West 34th Street. Tenant broker: Erik Schmall of Studley.
  • Tarter Krinsky & Drogin, a law firm, expanded its space by approximately 40% at 1350 Broadway, to occupy 26,951 square feet on the entire 11th floor and part of the 12th floor. Tenant brokers: Paul Amrich and Fernando Urrutia of CB Richard Ellis.
  • Tourmalet Advisors L.P., a financial services company, leased 3,595 square feet of the 15th floor at One Grand Central Place. Tenant Broker: Michael Movshovich of CB Richard Ellis.
  • Union Underwear Company, Inc. (d/b/a Fruit of the Loom, Inc.), has expanded its space to 4,361 square feet at 1400 Broadway and will relocate to part of the 21st floor.
  • Vandenberg & Feliu, a law firm, leased the entire 51st floor of 12,431 square feet at One Grand Central Place. Tenant broker: Andrew Weiss of Signature Partners.
  • Williamson Dickies, the largest workwear manufacturer in the world, leased part of the 16th floor at 1400 Broadway. Tenant broker: Jack Terzi of Jack Terzi Real Estate.
